My jointer planes chip breaker is a bit of a mess. Its got a bit of a chunk out of it on the right side where it meets the blade. I didn't think it would be a big deal, but the more I've used it, the more its causing problems. I've had moderate success cleaning it up, but I'm now sick of dealing with it. I decided to surf around and see if anyone makes replacement chip breakers. Low and behold some people do. LN and Hock. I decided to ping LV about the Hock chip breaker. Here is the dialogue (names clipped of course).

Me:
know you sell the Hock replacement plane blades, any chance you'll be selling the new Hock chip breakers for bailey style planes? It seems to me like it would nicely compliment your line up of after market plane irons.

LV:
We have just recently obtained some of the Hock Chip Breakers to keep on hand as a service to customers that ask about them, but they are not advertised, nor are they in our retail stores.

I decided to order one and try it out. It comes to like $29 so its not a major investment. It might even be in tonight....

I bought into the theory of a chipbreaker making a difference and upgraded a LN plane and my 608. Didn't make a bit of difference in performance but the experiment was fun.

Other than no more shavings jamming, I'm not expecting any improvements...
