View Full Version : Using Bevels

Since Canada Day is coming up fast I was playing with our Canadian Flag.
Using bevels, and combining the flag with the map of Canada, I came up with this. Not complicated by any means but the bevels make it work.
It is a technique I don't see often on the forums and in galleries. How many enjoy relief cutting with their scroll saw?
Take care

That looks great. I haven't tried anything like that but will have to reconsider now.

Steve, I agree - Marylin Carmin's book was very interesting and I believe it was one of my first on relief cutting. I enjoyed her wildlife, the early patterns. One of my favorite patterns was an eagle with the feathers cut in relief in the bottom corner.
Relief cutting definately adds to simple fretwork projects - don't get me started on the baskets and bowls!!!! Giggle.
Take care

Hi Fred,
You're in Windsor ... cool! I usually get as far south as London. Lived there for some time, but this northern girl needed to be a little closer to nature than London allowed me.
I still make routine visits to London and would enjoy meeting your woodworking group at sometime if that can be arranged. :D
Can you tell I am on a quest to promote scroll sawing???? LOL
Take care

Toni. Sorry I took so long getting back to you. I recently picked uo a Delta SS350. I guess I got the bug cause I love it. Just a few projects so far but looking at getting more after a couple more "must do" projects get finished. I have a lot to learn and I'm enjoying every bit of it.
Who knows. Maybe we can set up a meet sometime. We get to London for "Field Trips"LOL sometimes. Some people call it attending Woodworking Shows. We'll see.
