Anyone know a good way to clean all the black crud off something after using citric acid to remove the rust? I washed it down with a hose then rubbed it down with a cloth. I've still got loads of black marks all over the piece no doubt from small pits created by the rust. I tried steel wool, and sand pagper, but no luck. I'm thining I might have to try an old tooth brush.

Hi Matt,

A toothbrush and some chrome polish should do the trick.

Hey Matt, don't be losing any hair over a few black spots. ;)

Normall I wouldn't care, but its pretty bad. The pitting isn't noticable to the thouch, but its pretty visible. It also tends to get on my hands with I'm not keen on...

I'm thining (in my best Foghorn Leghorn voice) it was a joke son. Gotta get rid of that Chinese keyboard. Ok, so maybe I have a strange sense of humor. Must be my English heritage. ;)

Hi Matt,
Nothing works like a razor blade, if the black crud you're talking about is like scale (resting on the surface). The blade doesn't even have to be very sharp.
