Brian, that's terrific. It must be very impressive to see first hand. I keep thinking I'd like to try intarsia (actually I did cut pieces with my son for a small one but then he lost interest and they're still sitting there), but I really don't like sanding so I don't know if I'll ever try it.

When I first opened this and saw the bird pic I thought for a second you said Ebony and Chicken!

Again, great job!

Thanks for all the kind remarks. This was my first with exotic woods. My other ones were mostly stained pine, ( no comparison)
It took over 100 hrs ,but it was a special order for a birthday gift so I wanted to do the best I could. The hardest part was the intricate cuts like the talonns in thick, very hard wood. It has 7 coats of satin wipe on poly.
Here is another shot showing more grain in the wood.
The tiger was a finish it up job. Years ago I got a guy interested in doing intarsia and while making it for his Grandaughter he passed away. A little while later his wife approached me to see if I would finish it for her to give. How do you say no ??? It is only pine but it was quite nice doing this one.
Most of the pieces were cut out.
