View Full Version : exterior wood protector with wax

I have a pine board & batten barn with was finished with sears weatherbeater ultra clear wood protector (cedar look to it ) with has a wax added to it for water protection, sears does not carry this prodout any more is there anything that that I can put on top without stripping to bare wood I have it lighty sanded now.

I noticed your post in the finishing forum when you first posted it and did not reply because I've never used any Sears finishing products. If the original product used had wax in it I would imagine anything applied over the top of it would have some problems with adhesion. The best bet would be to strip it to bare wood and start over. I've used Sicco brand solid coulour stains on several outdoor projects and they are all still holding up well though the oldest is only about 4 years in ther weather so far.

Thanks Blaine the barn is about 4000 sq feet is there a easy way to get the oil & wax covering off.
