Good Morning all,

Does anyone have any plans/pictures out there for a workbench that is attached to one wall? A friend wants to build a utility workbench in his basement. It is not for woodworking, just general household stuff. I think it is going to be 10-12 feet long, and he wants drawers in the base cabinet and a hutch on top, or shelving attached to the wall above.

Any illustrations, links, etc. that I could forward to him would be appreciated.

Cheers

Randy

I just built a work bench that didn't start out to be attached to the wall, the link shows pictures and some notes. But due to floor movement I have modified the bench (read sawzall) to only be affixed with 12 screws to the back wall of the garage only.

I can put together a sketch of what I have done if you wish, it is pretty basic, a sturdy 2x4 framed top ( 6" OC) with 3/4" MDF as the top. From the 2x4's "hang" the cabinets and drawers (drawers aren't built yet) legs just sit on the floor and can be shimmed to help level the table. I had my floor/wall move an inch from winter to spring.

Form follows function. I wish I had your space.

This one is from Wood magazine. I cannot remember which issue but I can find it if you want.

Hope it helps, Turaj
