Attempts to "buy" my way out of resawing have failed resulting in a call to Busy Bee last week.

After 20 minutes of surgery I am happy to report that the Taiwanese bandsaw I bought a couple of years ago is now 5" taller! I can squeeze 11-1/2" out of it safely.
Pretty good deal too-($75.00 for the kit!)
Now I have to restock my wall with 105" Timberwolf blades. That will cost more than the darned riser!

I posted this for you guys and gals that might be worried about putting a riser on. It's a piece of cake with a couple of crescent wrenches.

Have you considered making your own blades? I have an old Walker-Turner and can't buy 'em ready made. I buy the blade stock in 100' rolls and silver solder the whole bunch at once. Depending upon the blade they only cost from $4 to $9. I've only ever had a joint fail once in 15 years.

You can save money by ordering on the web from
www.tufftooth.com (http://www.tufftooth.com) they sell the kit to make your own or you can order Swedish Silicon for a good price so I've found.

If you re going to the Durham show Band saw bob will be there, talk to him about blades.
I use his 1/2" 3tpi silicon for resawing. his site is tufftooth.com

How big are the stock rolls of say 1/2" 3 tooth?
I cna silver solder out of my previous life so this may be a good answer to having a sharp blade.
