I am making a series of arches that require I make a dozen 15 degree cuts for each arch.
Question: which is the correct method using my SCMS.
Move the blade from one side to the other to cut each end,
or
flip the wood over to cut the other end.
Is that clear?

Thanks Andy.

Hi, Andy:
If the wood is square or rectangular in section, then I don't believe it makes any difference. If the wood is shaped like, say, bevel casing for a door, then you would need to make all your cuts with the same face against the table, so you would have to swivel the saw from side to side.

it should work well as long as
A: When you flip, both sides that are against the fence are parallel.
B: If you are off 1 degree, you will end up with being 23 degrees off of what you wanted.

If you cut all pieces 15 degrees left, then the 12 pieces 15 right, you might brake even. as if your off say 1/2 degree on the left cut, you might gain 1/2 degree on the right.

Let us know the end results.

Andy - you should move the blade. Depending on the quality of the blade, and the type of wood, you may get some tear-out showing if you flip the wood. Since 15º is a positive stop, the angles will be consistent.
