View Full Version : Buck Saw Plan

Has anyone ever come across a plan for an old fashioned wooden buck saw? I'm hoping that's the right name for it, anyway. It's a saw that looks like a letter "H" made from wood with a blade joining the bottoms of the 2 vertical members and a tensioning wire joining the tops. I thought it would be a practical project to use up some of those small leftovers.

Lee V. sold a kit & plan for this saw, they dropped it a few years ago, Someone may still have a copy of this plan or know of a place that still stocks the kit. I would also be interestrd in making one.

J.P. Rap has one that he made himself a LONG time ago before the bandsaw and the curved sides were invented. ;-) It's hanging in his ultra modern shop up high on the wall. He probably needs a stool to reach it. Ask him to post the same picture that he put on another site recently.I'm sure he is very proud of all his fine woodworking tools. :-) ROFLMAO

Gene: There is such a plan on Paul Womack's website (a.k.a. Bugbear), a guy who you can find at the Badgerpond's Neanderthal Haven forum. Website is http://www.geocities.com/plybench/

What do you think guys and gals? Pretty nifty looking bucksaw up there on the wall. I'll bet he's done a ton of resawing with that baby. And hasn't he got the sweetest little necktie you ever saw???

Bill, I went to the other forum, opened the message and right clicked on the picture then clicked on properties and copied the address of the picture. It was really long and I had to scroll through it. Then I came over here and typed the message and pasted the picture link.

Thats what I tried to do.I think I must have copied it wrong.
When I opened the properties ,there was an address and a "view" #(Very long).
address - http:\albums ... view?
view - v=3456868a= ...
Do I need to copy both or just the address?

Thanks Gary. It was the properties part that I was missing. I went over there and got it and put it in here but only in the preview area just to check it out. It worked fine.
I'm getting too soon old and too late smart.I wonder how old J.P. is. With those tools he must be ancient. They were a way before my time. I think he mentioned one time that he went from long hair like in the picture to short hair to no hair.ROFL

Since your so interested...
I wanted to try posting a pic and since I can't do that with Ofoto and haven't had time to move my pics, I just picked one out of Photopoint.
I don't know anything about the artist or the work. It's just a photo I picked to try.
If your interested in getting more info about this item, follow the link below.
You can see the whole collection by clicking on the category name above the pic.
It is quite a piece of work isn't it.

WOW !! Thanks J.P. I've used Photopoint for a long time but I never clicked on the gallery. If you find out how to put multiple pictures into a post using Photopoint, let me know and maybe (just maybe) I won't kid you so much about the picture you posted. Perhaps you could reply with by starting a new thread at the top because this is getting down a ways.

You have to have the whole thing right from the http:// to the end. In this case it was 3 lines long and I had to scroll to get it all.
