Hey guy's ...thinking seriously of purchasing the Porter Cable Model 4112 12" Dovetail Jig this weekend at the woodshow...does anyone already own this model??..What are the pro's and or cons to this jig??......the 16" is almost three times the price of the 12".

Hi Dan Ive had nothing but good experiences with Porter Gable products, but I have no exp., with the dovetail jig you mention.I suspect that it cuts a predetermined Dove with no room for artistic expression.
I will however recommend the Leigh Dove tail jig as the room for artistitic expression has countless combinations and permutations. Worth every dime and then some. You can do sliding dovetails, half blind dovetails. through dovetails mitered dovetails as well as tenons and the list just keeps going.

Good Luck Roman

I tried out the PC4112 last weekend, we had a customer who wanted to know how it worked, so I gave it a whirl. It was fairly simple to assemble, I think about a half hour after opening the box I had a dovetail joint. I only made a few half-blind dovetails in a couple of various thicknesses, but it was fairly easy to use.
