Hi,

Like some of you here I have been turning pens for about 5 years, I really enjoy it. I recently bought a new pen style, sold by Craft Supplies in the US called a Gentleman's Pen. I have it here for scale beside a Large Twist pen that I bought the components from Lee Valley.

This new pen is BIG, and it feels good in your hands. It's finished with the brown and then white Hut sticks then a final build up coat of a friction polish.

The wood on both is curly maple.

Take care,
Jim

Nice work. I am just getting into turning and I like what I see. Thanks for sharing. I like your choice of wood.

Is it hard to turn figured wood?

Hi Fred,

Thanks very much. Turning figured wood for pens is not a problem, it seems to feel the same for me as straight grained wood, nothing a sharp tool and enough lathe speed can't solve!!
