HI,

I see that Busy Bee is now selling their Canister's for the 1 and 2-3HP dust collector as a separate unit. They are on sale for $199 and $265. I don't have a BB DC, mine's a King Industrial, but I suspect they may fit.

Anybody have an opinion on these canisters?

Thanks.

Most reports I've read about similar units is that they clog a lot. You need to have a well designed unit that limits how much dust goes into the filter. Most allow lots of dust to get up there and then they clog up.

Flapper arms help....but having pleats that catch the dust and trap it isn't good.

FWIW,

Allan

I think you just saved me $300. THANKS.

At first glance the canisters looked good, but after reading some of the details at the site, I can see there are serious problems.

Hi Ken,

I wanted to post that, so you wouldn't think it was my personal bias. I've been seeing posts like that since about two weeks after those things hit the market. Not good. And VERY expensive to replace.

They're paper-faced, sandwiching a thin layer of Spun-bonded polyester. The paper , cracks over time, since it gets brittle.

Canisters, might be ok, as long as they don't get dirty. More appropriate perhaps in some cyclones, than single-stage dc's.

Industrial dc's, ONLY use high-end canisters, in Pulse-jet dc's. Those use high-pressure compressed-air "Blasts", or "pulses", to prevent filter clogging, during use.

I'm not aware of a single industrial dc manufacturer, using canisters on any of their dc's, including cyclones. They all, use industrial needle-felt bags. Typical filtration is 0.5 micron/ 99.99%, and 60-65 cfm/ sq.ft air-permeability.

All the best, Bob
