Help me make a whistle.

I am 13, and working on my first project (a whistle). I have alredy hollowed out a wooden tube, but I have ran into some problems. I do not know what to do next. Can you help me?

Charles - My grandfather taught me to make whistles using green poplar cut a straight peice, and the bark should slide off in one peice, then carve the wood to shape and slide the bark back on
