Just to prove that I do in fact still spend a bit of time in the shop, these are a few things I've been working on recently. The first is a recipe box I made for my MIL for Christmas:

Curly maple, cherry aniline dye and shellac. I actually made a second one, virtually the same for my SIL for Christmas as well.
This next one is a coffee grider from LV. I just finished it up today:

Cherry, again finished with amber shellac.
And this last one is a 'couch table':

I'm in the process of making another one, that will nest inside this one when not in use. The splines were originally going to be dovetailed, but I muffed one of the cuts so I just slotted them instead. Wood is maple and padauk, finished with waterbased poly. I'm not entirely happy with the colours of this one, but it's sure nice to have a place to set a cup of coffee.
Thanks for looking,
Kerry

, although it closed up just slightly. Not the result of deflection from weight, it was the result of not taking enough care when clamping. It's only out by a very small amount though and I have to measure it to detect it. Strength/stability wise - I haven't set anything super heavy on it to see how much it deflects, but maybe I will just to see. I don't think I'd sit on it or anything, but I can't think of any reasonably likely object to be placed on it that I think would cause any grief. I'll try and remember to run a little test tonight.
