New digital issues

Hmm, somebody's being over-zealous. In the latest issue of the CWW email newsletter, Paul says to send an email with your name, mailing address and email address to jriou@theoystergroup.ca and you'll be set up to receive digital copies of the magazine free (if you're already a subscriber.

However, if you do so (as I did), your email will bounce. It gets flagged as spam.

Viz:
Delivery to the following recipient failed permanently:

jriou@theoystergroup.ca

Technical details of permanent failure:
Google tried to deliver your message, but it was rejected by the recipient domain. We recommend contacting the other email provider for further information about the cause of this error. The error that the other server returned was: 550 550 5.7.1 Message rejected as spam by Content Filtering. (state 18).


Somebody didn't check things out ahead of time.

We're on it.

As is usual, when doing things that someone hasn't done a thousand times before, there are always little bugs here and there. We're really excited about the new digital side of the magazine, and are looking to do great things with it. Stay patient please.

EDIT: I sent an email to the address and nothing bounced back (yet....it's been 30 mintues) and a couple other people have done the same with no return. Maybe it's something on your end. Anyone else have the same experience?

Will the digital edition be available without the paper copy. I have received the digital FHB and FWW for years, works great.

At the present time, you can only receive the digital edition if you are already a print subscriber. That may (or may not!) change in the future once we have the new magazine site up and running.

I don't pretend to understand anything about the publishing business, but I understand that print issues are eligible for grants/subsidies based on readership numbers. Digital editions, for some strange reason, don't count in those calculations. So if everyone opted for a digital issue only, the magazine would lose money. Seems weird to me, but maybe someone more knowledgeable can chime in and provide a better explanation.

what format is the digital edition - pdf so it can be kept and stored for reference and viewed any time or anywhere - or Zinio where it can only be viewed online and you can print a few pages at a time - but you can't save a copy??

From what I've seen so far, you can view it on line (and bookmark individual pages) and there is also the option to download it in .pdf format.

Save in .pdf for future reference is a positive. I really hate the on line only subscriptions.
