Dogwood from the east has a nice grain, yellowish in color and makes nice pen stock or small ornaments as it usually does not grow very thick....Lots of "big" dogwood in Ontario where it grows like a weed!!! I usually get some on a "back" road in the country and bring it home to dry (hard to keep from cracking/splitting!!!!!!) etc.....
