My son has to take down a dogwood with 5 stems from 3" to 8" diameter. What is it like for turning? Any character? Thanks. Ron.

It is a solid wood great for making tool handles etc

Agree, nice wood for handles etc.. Can't say anything about larger pieces, because out here they never get very big. Free wood is always Good to experiment with.

Dogwood from the east has a nice grain, yellowish in color and makes nice pen stock or small ornaments as it usually does not grow very thick....Lots of "big" dogwood in Ontario where it grows like a weed!!! I usually get some on a "back" road in the country and bring it home to dry (hard to keep from cracking/splitting!!!!!!) etc.....
