Default Who likes Grizzly machines?

Busy Bee orders in Grizzly machines! I asked them at their grand opening in Saskatoon and they said they do and to call their 1-800 number. So I did and I got a quote on the G1023SL Cabinet saw on for $795 right now. With shipping, tax, etc., it would cost us a whopping $1025. Not bad for a very highly rated cabinet saw with lots of power in my opinion. Is this too good to be true? Maybe duty has to be payed after, who knows. Nevertheless Grizzly machines can be ordered quite easily for Canadian residents.

That is great news.

If this turns out to be true country wide this is excellent.

This is the smartest decision BB has made. Provided the prices aren't outrageous. I have always been so dissapointed that BB would not "link up with Grizzly" to reach it's Canadian customers. Wouldn't this create a real buzz if BB showed up to the CHW show with a full compliment of Grizzly stuff.

Maybe one of the members who have ties with BB could provide us with an update.

See for yourself. Go to the BB website, get the 1-800 number and get a model number for a machine and phone them. They got back to me with a quote later on in the day. It's that simple.

This is great news. I wanted the G0690 table saw and G0457 bandsaw but gave up trying to find someplace close in North Dakota or Montana to have it delivered to.

I just sent BusyBee an email asking for a quote so I'll see what kind of reply I get tomorrow. I'm hoping that they will get so overwhelmed with requests that they just start stocking some of the Grizzly stuff.

It's either these or some granite from SteelCity. BusyBee just doesn't have anything equivalent to the Grizzly stuff, feature wise.

Good time to hear officially from BB on their policy and procedure so we know what the terms are.

Well when I talked to that worker the other day(he said he was from Toronto), he said there never was an agreement with Grizzly about not getting them in Canada and that Grizzly's machines are not CSA approved. He said it was probably a rumour started on the internet and that it "wouldn't be worth it" because of shipping, etc. Obviously he's going to want a person to buy a Craftex.

This now begs the question if BB will order Grizzly for you can you actually placve an order direct with Grizzly and have them ship it here?

If anyone is successful doing this, I think everyone would appreciate a post here. This would be the great news.

I like most of the Grizzly machines I've seen and tried quite a bit, and the G1023SL is definitely one of them. It was a real good buy in the US when it was on sale for $1075 shipped....

Once I get enough saved, I'm gonna get a Griz cab. saw, one of the 1023's. They did say it takes about a month to get the saw, but I'm willing to wait. I will definately be posting when it happens.

Ken.. If you don't mind driving down to North Portal, North Dakota. The Outback Saloon will receive freight on your behalf. They have storage and a fork lift to handle heavy lifts. Phone and ask for Eddie or Darlene Kramer.
Ph. # 701 926-4000. Their mailing address is
Box 100
20 Main St
North Portal, ND
Zip 58772.
Not sure what the fee's are but I have used a similiar service in Port Huron Mi and if you need a forklift to unload and load the total fee is $25.. Grizzly will ship to a border point as long as you have an address.
I personally have difficulty believing that BB will sell Grizzly but then again I also don't believe in the tooth fairy.

The 1023's are awesome saws, and the prices are unparallelled. I love mine, and saved over $1200 by driving to PA to get one, Vs. buying the SC cabinet saw locally.

I called Grizzly and asked about the jointer I'm looking to buy and whether they will now ship to Canada. I explained why I was asking this and the nice lady said "Oh yes, we're now taking orders from Busy Bee but at present we won't ship direct but that may change so call again in a month or so and check if the situation has changed"!!!!!! Boy I'm telling you if the situation does change or ordering through BB makes better economic sense then BB will be seeing a lot more of my money and sooner than they might have expected! Makes you wonder how long Craftex will be around doesn't it?

Very cool. So I guess now I'll have to call Busy Bee to find out how much it would cost to have one of the G0457 bandsaws brought in. I agree that if BB started selling Grizzly stuff, they would likely see a lot more business.

Just in case you haven't read the thread about the Craftex 15" planer with spiral cutter head I pointed out that the Grizzly 15" planer with spiral cutter head sells for roughly $C1,750 including shipping to the border while the Craftex is $C2,025 plus taxes. They are essentially the same machine. I'd love to hear what BB would quote that planer for if you call the 1-800 number? Anything more than what it would cost me to drive to Niagara, do all the border crossing stuff and pay the appropriate fess added onto that $C1,750 and guess where my money would go?

My main reason for looking into this whole thing was because BB has no selection of tablesaws. Then I went on Grizzly's sight and drooled. Their prices are just far and away better than most, combined with outstanding reviews in several magazines, etc. uhuhuarrarhghgh

Yes, interesting news......could you clarify/confirm that gst/provincial sales tax was including in the $1025 quotes...... on the Grizzly website, the U.S. shipping charge for the G1023SL is $94 so, once you factor in that the Canadian dollar is still not at par (.93 or .94 U.S. this), the $1025 Canadian price (plus any duty, which there may not be) sounds reasonable if there's is an equavalent machine Busy Bee's own line up.

thanks for the information in advance,

michael

I was in busy bee in Edmonton today and asked the guy if they were going to start selling grizzly machines and he said they would, because the american economy is so slow right now that grizzly needs to start selling in new markets. Good news for us.

A couple of questions I would ask is what is the duty say per $1000.00 and what about warranty. Even when you just get a new machine one may need to get a defective part replaced so will Grizzly pay shipping and duty? Things to think about.

You've made my day I phoned every obvious place in North Portal and got nowhere. Short of me going down there and knocking on doors, I never would have found this place.

Now I've got a decision to make. I sort of talked myself out of the G0690 cabinet saw and G0457 bandsaw and into the SteelCity 35905G cabinet saw and the 14" deluxe granite bandsaw. The SteelCity stuff would save me a couple of hundred bucks and a 5 hour round trip, but I would still need to have it shipped in.

I read in another forum (but I can't remember where) that the G0457 and some other Grizzly machines were going on sale on November 2. That just might be the day I make my decision. If the US continues it's "jobless recovery", there just may be a lot more sales when they try move their Christmas inventory.

I never received a quote from BusyBee about the Grizzly stuff that I requested in an email last night. I might follow-up, but it probably is a lot more expensive than importing it myself.
