  • How to attach a small floating shelf

    Hey All,
small home project - making a picture ledge out of walnut. I like this picture below, but not sure how newt to attach it to the wall. Too small for cleats, too small for floating bolts. No backer board to screw through. Just small angle brackets on the top and cover with a picture?

You are welcome. I find the Lee Valley site hard to search so I use google. Your search in google was "Lee Valley keyhole bracket" without the quotes.

Those are nifty looking hangers John! I'd never seen those before. I'm going to have to remember those.

Meanwhile, another option might be flush mount hangers -

I have used those. We did a gov't job (12 years ago) where we had a bunch of custom mirrors and matching panels to build and hang. Those make it super easy to get your item level. They also carry a fair bit of weight.

The Lee Valley ones look like they would do the job but if you're attaching to a wall not sure how well the adhesive would work. Wonder if they make them with a hole for a screw (or you could drill and countersink them yourself) then just drill thru the drywall and screw them into the studs.
