  • Coat hooks in MDF

I realize it isn't ideal, but I'm looking to install some coat hooks into some 5/8" thick MDF wainscoting. In an effort to keep these from pulling out, I'm thinking of drilling some holes behind each hook and epoxying some 1/2" dowel before screwing them in. Any thoughts?

What's behind it? Why not use toggle bolts?

Simply pre-drilling and putting some epoxy in the hole before driving the screws should be more than sufficient...just use a coarse thread screw that is long enough to fully penetrate the MDF and you should be golden.
