  • Trenching around concrete slab

    Hello
I wish to trench around my house to upgrade the protection from water infiltration.
house is built on floating slab.Drainage is already good as soil is sandy and rocky.
Any suggestions as to grade and distance of slope as well as use of membrane to protect walls of the house would be appreciated. I am replacing rotted sill plates. Seems most contractors want to include the job of trenching and placing membrane when doing the job of sill plate replacement. I would like to cut costs by trenching myself.
    Thanks

Probably the distance from the house should exceed the angle of repose of the material the slab is built on.

rent a small machine for the day ( 1/2 day maybe?) , the trench will make it easier to get at the sill plates too , you can see better etc.

Use any good foundation Sealer and just use a throwaway paint tray and roller , can get a bit messy but nothing Gas (petrol) wont take off .

then put Dimple Mat over the Damp-proofing before backfilling.
