  • Old birch hardwood flooring

We are renovating our 1951 house which has 1 3/4" birch hardwood throughout. We took down a wall and now need approx 20 sq feet. I can't find this width anywhere either locally or online- we live in the Maritimes. Any suggestions?

Do you have any local suppliers that may have a router or shaper bit that would match the tongue and groove profile of the existing hardwood? If so, mill them up yourself or go talk to a local millwork shop and have them done up.

I've heard of some people who 'steal' some flooring from a closet area, patch the floor and use the look-a-like to replace the closet. Seems like a lot of work to me but some people are pretty anal about getting a match.
