I would like make my foam pillow about 1" thinner. It has a trough that runs lenght ways down the center on both sides about 3/4" deep that my head lays down in and this allows support for my neck. I've tried to buy a thinner one but no luck. Cutting a new trough is the problem. I've wondered about using a mini grinder and a coarse disc for the trough?. I could probably handsaw the rest flat. Suggestion would be appreciated. Al

why not slice 1" off the bottom and leave the trough side alone?
    It's not about you.

You may get some better suggestions, but an electric knife (two blades that slide back and forth against each other) works well for cutting foam. I don't know whether you can make one work for your purposes.

Sounds like as good reason to buy a 24" planer!

          Trough on both sides.

Why not use Art's idea though to slice what you need off one side. You only need the trough on one side not both.

I think they were all bought by people using them to cut foam and Roxel insulation. Works great for both.

Soak pillow in water and put in deep freeze....when frozen....cut with saw....(hand/table/band)

Right and simple! For some reason I though there was a trough on both sides. I think with the trough, I must have been making a "mountain out of a mole hill".
