  • Buns again

Buns -- My wife asked me to make some buns for our ground chuck burgers that we're having for dinner so I decided on some nice Brioche buns. They turned out quite well. LOL.

    Re: Buns again

I grew up eating exclusively home made baking, fresh bread 5 days a week. My mother could never produce hamburger buns, sofa cushions she called them, they were always a bit crusty.

These are a little crusty too, Rob. I really don't like white bread and what I call mush that my wife eats. These are a compromise as they're tasty crusty on the outside and soft but not mushy inside.

But you described them as brioche rather than bread?

Brioche is what the recipe calls them.

Brioche means egg and butter are present. I doubt hamburger buns have either.

Exactly -- but they aren't mushy. I don't know what you're getting at or want to know.

Those Buns look good. Just add butter.

Yes -- I have the same problem. No yeast anywhere. I have a small jar left and that's it until I find some more.
