This 12" jointer in Woodstock has been for sale for awhile and the seller has lowered the price several times. It's now reduced to $800 obo from $2000. He says "must go by Thursday".

    Seneca Falls Metal Lathe

This is a very nice old lathe (not mine). It was posted yesterday and I was trying to figure out how I could get it. In the end, I just can't justify buying it.

Yes they want arm and leg for those lathes, got some pictures to see the different assemblies of these lathes, like short bed or long bed and other adaptations.

That looks like something made for a specific, production purpose.

Yes these Lathes have been around for a long time, Richard Raffan turned a lot on one of those, still being made as far as I know, solid quality lathe, only problem is they use WW thread on it, so hard to get pieces to fit on it.

    Union Graduate Short Bed Lathe

Here's an interesting looking lathe. I've never heard of this manufacturer before. It's interesting that outboard turning is made simple but no size advantage is gained. Is this so that 2 people can turn on one machine at the same time? Pretty unique tailstock too.

Here is a picture of a complete W. F. and John Barnes and Co. Wood Lathe and some info from the Vintage Machinery site. Looks like the lathes could be bought as a foot powered machine or driven from a line shaft.

The Barnes #3 lathe is perhaps the most decorated of all foot powered machinery with the pinstriping and painted designs on the wooden bed. Barnes began making the #3 about 1876 and made over 5500 until it was discontinued in the mid 1920's. Like most Barnes machinery, it evolved in the early years from a much lighter weight design using a round belt to the style shown in these pictures. Age, neglect and yes hard usage takes a toll on anything so most are in need of some TLC when found. What is pictured here is a fully restored #3. The colors and designs are based on paint runs and other examples. For additional informaiton on foot powered machinery, please visit www.footpoweredmachinery.com

    W. F. and John Barnes and Co. Wood Lathe. I think that this is a treadle lathe. Asking too much in my opinion but an interesting antique nonetheless.

    $400
