  • Looking for a Cutterhead for General 480 Jointer

I'm looking for a straight knife cutterhead for a general 480 jointer. † the jib screws on mine are rusted on and i can't get them off. † if anyone has one they'd be willing to part with, let me know please.

Out of curiosity have you tried Ford Machinery? When I first bought my rockwell beaver 37-220 the cutterhead jib screws were seized and i rounded half of them over - i ended up using a dremel to cut them in half to slide the jib bar out. turns out it was just the head that had stuck itself to the cutterhead and the body of the screw came out using some liquid wrench and a screw removal tool. Ford Machinery sold me replacements based on the part # I got out of an old manual. If I had to do it over i would just use off-the-shelf screws cut down to the right length - they were a typical thread size but the length of them was very short. I would use a jewellery scale to ensure the weight is identical between them all. †
