There's a marples 148 for sale on Calgary kijiji, simply listed as doweling jig. In my humble opinion, this is the be-all and end-all of dowelling jigs. With exension rods (you may have to acquire separately- as this is a discontinued device) you can set up dowels for cabinet carcases with total precision. Asking is 100$, which is what I've apid over the last years for the 3 I now have.

Does anybody have either a Dowel Max or Jessem doweling jig sitting idle in their shop gathering dust that they would like to sell.
