I presume you are not looking for pressure treated. Wallenstein Woodworks near Dorking on hwy 86 ask for Irvin phone 519 698 2041. The best time to get him is shortly after 8 am They have rough cut with a circular saw that leaves a unique pattern on the wood.

The Wood Shed in Smithville does a lot of fir timbers. Bit out of your way, but worth the drive in my opinion.

Townsend lumber in Tillsonburg have a good selection. I would try Bob’s suggestion first.

If you have a Timbermart nearby they seem to carry rough cut beams. At least in my area they do but just softwood.

For pine, Townsend will hook you up. They are a pretty short drive from woodstock(relatively anyway).

              OK Jamie.
              You haven't said.
But I'm guessing this is not for pens!

                Perhaps Paul Bunyan's pen?

Thanks for the suggestions. It will be for posts for a covering over a cement pad which will become an outdoor kitchen. I am asking for a friend and will pass along the suggestions so he can decide species as well as surface finish.
