  • Locust tree logs in Hamilton

I had to have a locust tree taken down at my place.

I asked the arborist to leave some usable lengths for me, but he left it all... too much for my needs.

There's a lot of wood here if anyone is interested in some logs or slabs or firewood off these...

    PM if interested.

Re: Locust tree logs in Hamilton

Locust wood is beautiful !! Those would be perfect for someone with a small portable sawmill to mill up. I think we have a person like that on this forum who lives in the GTA ??

Also to be clear, I don't have anything to lift these into a truck or anything. So either plan for that or plan to saw/mill them here. There are some big pieces... You can drive right up the logs though. They are currently on the parking pads behind the house.

I echo John's comments. Good for working or burning.

Yes beautiful wood, I turned a bunch, from over 1 meter D, to large branch wood

Depending on the species, it can get hard as rock when dry - certainly affects turning bowls.

                    Thanks for all the comments.

Hope to see this tree or at least some of it go to someone who will use it.

Yayyy ! Hopefully at least a few of the longer straighter logs will go for lumber and not firewood, but ..... at least it's dealt with.

                        cheers

Not firewood. These guys have a mill and are bringing a logging truck to pick up all the big stuff. They told me they are making slabs for tables, etc.
