    This is an excellent, totally complete example of this comprehensive plane, the Record 405 multi plane.
    An unusually clean example with all parts.
    Similar to the Stanley No 45, blades and most parts are interchangeable.
    In excellent usable condition, everything slides and locks properly. Cast iron body, rosewood or stained beech knob. Tungsten steel cutters.
    Comes with 3 depth stops, normal one, plus beading stop and the depth stop for the slitting blade.
    Includes long and short rails.
    Side fence has a fine adjuster system.
    Also comes with an original set of cutters in box, honed ready for use.
    23 Blade set comprises, 12 plough / dado , 7 beading, 2 t & G and one sash cutter.
    Also comes with a full ORIGINAL instruction manual.
    Also includes the veneer slitting blade plus ORIGINAL screwdriver and suppourt cam to keep the plane level.
    Many additional cutters and special bases available elsewhere.
    Box is in very good condition.
    $259 - no taxes - private sales. Shipping can be very expensive - it is 5kg packed.

    The Record Multi-Plane, as the name implies, could perform many planing operations required by the cabinet maker and joiner, namely:
    1. Ploughing.
    2. Dadoing.
    3. Beading.
    4. Centre Beading.
    5. Rabbeting and Filletstering.
    6. Match Planing.
    7. Sash Planing.
    8. Slitting.
    The Record Multi-Plane possessed the following features:
    Screw adjustment to the cutter.
    Screw adjustment to the fence.
    Screw adjustment to the depth gauge.
    Two sets of arms (Long and short).
    Beading stop.
    Slitting cutter stop.
    Sliding section depth gauge.
    Cam steady.
    Spurs for cross grain work.
    The metal parts were all Rustless Plated, and the handle, knob and fence were of selected rosewood (on early models) or stained beech (on later models).
    The following 23 cutters were supplied with the Record Multi-Plane as standard, but should extra cutters be required, they were available at extra charge.
    23 Cutters supplied were:
    1/8", 3/16", 1/4", 5/16", 3/8", 7/16", 1/2", 5/8", 3/4", 13/16" & 7/8" Plough & Dado cutters.
    1/8", 3/16", 1/4", 5/16", 3/8", 7/16" & 1/2" Beading cutters.
    1-3/4" Sash cutter.
    3/16" & 1/4" Match (Tongue & Groove) cutter.
    1-1/4" Filletster cutter.
    Slitting cutter.

    Question: do you know what it was plated with? Specifically, is it cadmium?

        Looks like Nickel plated to my eyes. There is no dull grey metal coating that looks like Cadmium. Maybe is just the morning light that is making look otherwise in the earlier pictures.

        What can be seen here and there as little bit yellowish spots is just beewswax. I keep my tools very clean and rust is never getting close to them.

              Plane paid in full by musky_xl. Waiting for pick-up in couple of weeks. Payment already sent. Thank you very much Ken for the trust.

              The $250 payment I received is for pick-up by Ken. Not shipped.
