  • So I Made a Rabbet Chisel Plane

As the title says I made a rabbet chisel plane based on Paul Sellers' design. It took me about an hour to make from some scraps. The kence is not yet done but it works great. Just thought to share.

Slick and easy. Does it clear chips OK?

Look at the bottom of the pic there is a typical chip that rolls right off the blade.

I added a fence to it. I think I will add deapth stop as well and I think I will remake the body from some hardwood when I have some scraps.

That is an interesting experiment and a good use for a stray (or orphan) chisel. Thanks for sharing your results with us.

I made this one over 40 yrs. ago and it still works great when I need it. I think it came from FWW mag.

So simple yet so effective. I will attempt a low angle shoulder pnane as well.

Let us know how it goes. I'm wondering if it's possible with a wooden body without splitting.

Have been eyeing low angle planes for a bit now, just not sure if I actually need one.

Your Paul Seller's plane looks nice.
