Which flea market are you going to now Al? I used to go to the one on the Smith Falls/North Gower Road some years ago.

Wow! I was there last February and yes, it was disgustingly filthy. There used to be a guy named "Dave ???" that ran the back third of the building and sort of kept an eye on the place. He died some years ago and I'm told that's when the place started going downhill. Dave was a really nice guy.

wow, I know that place and am amazed it's still going.
it appeared to be a run down shack 10+ years ago when I was last by it.

          good find regardless.

            $2, really? A "steel" of a deal.

Al, you have joined the bottom feeder bragging rights! I absolutely love the score! After hanging out with Vic Tesolin (Veritas tools) this weekend, I've found a new appreciation of hand planes.

I could be off base, though that's never happened, LOL. But I think Shelton is a 2nd line Millers Fall .#14 is a MillersFall # for a jack..Great score!!

Shelton is notably *not* a good name for planes. I bought a rusty Shelton for like $1 and it is an awful plane, but I bought it as a paperweight, which job it excels at.

                      I've heard the same.

I also have a #14, which I got for free, but the cap iron doesn't properly lock.

I was considering drilling and tapping a hole through the top of the cap, for a bolt to create the required cap iron pressure, and grinding a large radius on the blade, and using it as a scrub. I figure it'd do find for that purpose, but I still haven't gotten around to it.
