    Frank. Nice job on the Moxon!

    Randy, the leather being only on one face is interestingly enough, by design. The one side left bare provides firm registration for the workpiece when sawing. Leather on both sides allows for too much movement, unless it’s very firm leather, and then it loses it’s friction / holding advantage. Lining one side gives all the extra grip that’s needed. Thin, split grain leather is generally used for best results.
