  • Cheap plane blades and supplies

For those looking for a bargain I bought off Amazon the 51mm HSS plane blades that fit all regular Stanley type planes. Flattened the back on diamond 1000 then oil stone then sandpaper up to 3000, will take it to 8000, very flat hard iron. For under 20 dollars I don’t see how you can go wrong. I also bought a while back a few of the 6 dollar diamond plates off eBay and the M42 cobalt drill bits for 18 dollars 13 pieces. Excellent quality for no money. If your drilling metal M42 a drop of oil your set, stainless, hardened steel no issue.

I have no idea how to link things from eBay. Search M42 Drill bit set 13 pieces

I saw a mention of Golden Horse blades on IG recently by a guy in Australia. I simply googled "Golden Horse plane blades" and found several sellers in China. All common widths and sets with chipbreakers are available. Landed cost in Canada is in the $20 range. Some offer to combine purchases to reduce shipping costs.

The gentleman in Aus was impressed with the performance of this product.

Edit: I have been using the $6 eBay diamond plates for several years now with good results.
