    Thanks to a local historian who has been a wealth of knowledge to me I received a picture to share with you. There is no date with the picture but from its content early 1900's'. The R H Smith factory would have been just to the left of this scene. At that time Smith was one of our leading industries and he was Mayor of the city. This was the Patriots Day Parade.

    Cool photo Larry. I guess the parade was a great way to advertise one's wares in those days.

    Did they celebrate Patriot's Day in Ontario back then?

      I did a google search and it appears that it was the forerunner to Dominion Day and Canada Day celebrated on July 1st each year. Apparently some communities still refer to the parade as the Patriots parade. I have found reference back to 1908.
