  • Tool chest?

hauled this wooden chest home from Nova Scotia, father inlaw said it was a tool chest,I'm not sure.He did not know its history, was in his mothers estate. Unfortunatly it's had a couple of poor repairs ,modern hinges I layed in and large screws to hold on part of the lid lip

A nice chest (in spite of the repairs) made even better by the family connection.

      Re: Tool chest?

I bought a very similar chest when I lived in NS. I first thought it must have been a tool chest although the inside setup didn't make sense. I later found out that it was a "captain chest" or something similar. Basically, a sailor chest to store personal belonging while on board. Very old.

Really nice find regardless of its intended purpose.

Really nice! I've let one pass a couple of months ago... still have regrets, but didn't have place anyway in my small shop!
