n ice drill press for sure, aklands grainger carries new ones
the motor has me baffled, it seems to be much much older than the machine itself

Yeah. I was thinking it wasn't the original motor. It has a drive shaft coming out both ends. Could make a good buffing motor and mount a larger motor on the press.

even better!! hoover dates back in the 50's, drill press is much much newer
dual shaft, 1725 rpm 1/2 hp, that would make an awesome buffing setup. easy to add a reversing switch too as well if needed
i have a hoover 1hp on my lathe

its funny actually, i grew up in england in the 50's and 60's, and back in those days you didnt vacuum your carpets and floors, you "hoovered" them, hoover back them was known for vacuum cleaners and the name became like "kleenex" is today

I have British friends who still call it a hoover. "Brilliant!"

NIce. If you are putting a motor on get a 3-phase and put a VFD on it. It is a great upgrade.

they were sold without motors because they did not make csa approval at the time
