  • Shaper power feeder feed rate

    I have a opertunity to buy a delta power feeder at a reasonable price,but it only has two of the four feed rate gears,so the available feed rates a 14 and 63 ft/ min.
    are these useful rates,are replacement gears avaliable at a decent price,or should I pass

    14' is a good slow feed.Gears can't be a big deal at that size.

      I used the higher speed once when making 8 ft long small trim. I like the slower speed best. On fast, you need someone to play catch with the pieces exiting.

        I’ve only ever used the two speeds.
        The fast one only for really small stuff (1/4 round etc)

          14 FPM is a useable speed, 63 would work for small profiles. If that feeder was made by Comatic you should be able to find parts. A lot of the feeders out there are made by Comatic and rebranded, not sure about the Delta ones though.

            My delta (made in Taiwan) is a comatic.
            Or a darn good clone.

              I procrastinated,it's gone.He emailed me tonight that he found the other gears,then latter to say it sold along with his shaper.
              was $275, or $100 with the shaper.a no brainer if you were buying the shaper
