  • Canadian Buffalo drill press question

    can anyone tell me,the base on a 15" Canadian Buffalo drill press,is the bore for the column a trough hole or is it blind? In other words,can the colum be telescoped trough the base?

ID:	1260796 If this is the right base (advertised as a 15 base on ebay) then it looks like you can. I've thought of doing that to a beaver but it has a pressed on brass ring that didn't seem worth to mess with.

      I believe mine could go right through if I could have loosened it but it was well seized and didn't seem worth the effort.

        Same with mine, I was going to take it off and clean and paint it, and polish the post as well, but the base is seised on, not surprising after 50 years or so, so rather than taking a chance of breaking it, I left things as they were, using some fine sandpaper to clean the column, as it was not bad to start off with.
