  • Blade Sharpening in (southern) Alberta

Time to sharpen a few saw blades and a set of planer knives, would appreciate a heads-up on where a GOOD blade sharpening place is out west.

Not interested in hear-say, would rather hear from folks that have actual experience with a shop...good or bad.

    Thanks

I've been happy with KMS's sharpening service, though I don't know if the Coquitlam KMS Tools has a different sharpening would differ from the Alberta locations.

If you have a hard time getting things perfectly level, maybe you need a First Guess Gravity Gauge.

I would call the commercial shops in your area an find out where they get their blades sharpened.

Yeti, I think you are in the Lethbridge area so Faber Sharpening in Coaldale is who I and many shops in the area use. Great service and fast turn around times.

Places like Lethbridge Fasteners have a sharpening service but actually all they do is send to Faber anyways after they mark the price up for their share of the pie.

Western Saw in Calgary does a super good job Yeti....they are near the Calgary Airport. You name it and they can sharpen it. You could mail your stuff to them.

Thanks for the info for those that have chimed in.

Just called Faber, will give him a try. The other option seems to be through Wind$or Ply who use Great Western Saw in the 'Toon, not sure what their prices are yet though. Wind$or here can be a bit odd some times

I use a machine shop called Calmet Industrial and they are in Foothills industrial park. I have tried quite a few in the earlier days but since going to them about 15 yrs ago I have not wanted to go elsewhere. He sells FS Tools blades as well as Royce Air if that helps.

Thanks Wally - just talked to a local pro shop here and made me question who I was going to see - perhaps I'll give Calmet a whirl.

                      Cheers
