  • Anybody own a King Jointer...KC-60C

    Hello all,

I am looking at this used 6" jointer 5 yrs old. Would this be a good machine to purchase?

    Thanks for your comments.

    Tim

Sorry, should have said only has 10hrs of use on it, not 5 yrs old...

Yes, I have one and love it.

It's PERFECT for a small(er) shop because it has a relatively small footprint.

There is an argument for longer tables, to be sure, but if you're not going to be jointing 8' lengths of lumber, this is your jointer.

I bought mine used from a member here and don't regret the purchase at all - would do the same again.

Things I like: Solid, easy adjustments

    Drawbacks: None

    Cheers!

    Gary

I too have one (if I remember my model correctly, I am not at home). Quite happy with mine.

Fence is a little fiddly to get set perfect. but I like it goes the full length of the in feed table, not just part way.

Works well for me, haven't put a lot of miles on it yet.

      Price paid was $150.00 used.

I have a King 8". My brother in law had a King 6". They are good machines.
Even though the one you are looking at has low hours, run a straight edge all the way along the in-feed / out-feed tables. With the in-feed table all the way up, the straight edge should make consistent contact all the way across.
If the current owner started using it as a table, a continuous consistent weight on the ends can bow the casting over time.

I don't know how it compares to my KC-6JC, maybe newer, but I am satisfied with it. Not too powerful but works great for what I need it for.
Paid $200 about 10 years ago. I believe mine is a 1991 model.
I have been looking for a manual for a while but have not been able to find one.
