Having a VFD makes it a really nice working lathe, best thing you can have on a lathe like that

Nice Oak turnings you made, well done
The motor moves sideways to give me 3 ratios, about 4.5:1, 2:1(this is the 2 large pulleys) and 1.2:1 . Motor is 3 phase connected to VFD

    started a topic Preston Lathe

    Preston Lathe

I purchased this headstock and tailstock from a forum member last fall sometime.
The headstock bearings required machining and shims. I also made #3MT spindle and pulleys. There is a ball thrust bearing.
The tailstock has a new #3MT quill and a cam lock.
The bed is laminated maple 78in between centers
I got this working last weekend and did my first project.
    Very happy with the results
