  • Beaver bench grinder.

I was perusing kijiji ads for bench grinders across Canada looking for something similar to my new acquisition on which the tag is unreadable.
I find one that seems identical and it’s a Beaver. Surprise! So I searched the forum and found this:

          In the drawer, Steve.

The catalog page would be as good I guess.

It looks like it is not designed for end guards?

                Re: Beaver bench grinder.

yes, those are the tool rests i have stashed away somewhere. mine also has the glass shields
i will find the catalog page and scan it
the glass frames mount in the two little holes barely visible in the top of the guard
great little grinder, i have two 6 by 1 cbn wheels in it. comes up to speed very quickly despite the heavy wheels

?? The first one at the top of the post still has collars but the rest of the guard has broken off.
The second one has the guards. They look the same as the ones on Steve’s grinder.

maybe I am not getting what you’re saying.

                    Re: Beaver bench grinder.

the guards do not look like they are drilled and tapped for a cover over the side of the wheel.

The grinder also appears in the 1963 catalog. Click image for larger version Name:	74610524-04F2-4EF9-AB11-ED60AF9BCB21.jpeg Views:	0 Size:	395.1 KB ID:	1291434

                        And the 1967 catalog

so no covers on the guards and the shields were optionnal.

                          "badge engineering" at its best!
