  • Dark Finish on Maple

Maple cabinets, with a dark walnut finish - how would you do this? I find it very easy to ruin maple during the finishing process. How would you achieve a dark walnut look (without spay equipment)?

    thanks for any help,

Dye it by brush, sponge, dip it whatever, just flood it it on.

Not a great example but the maple legs here are just sponge brushed on and spray finished.

You definately need spray equip. to do a good job on cabinets. It is fairly easy if you have the right equipment.

A good friend of mines wife wanted a maple kitchen. When the doors were done, she asked how he was going to make them dark maple. He ended up remaking them in Walnut.

Why not start with walnut if you want a walnut look?

Rent it!!! It only takes a day for a normal sized kitchen... if you have everything ready. You could always rent for a weekend and take your time.
