  • New Scroll Saw Chucks

The lower chuck on my scroll saw somehow got the threads damaged.

Replaced both chucks with Pegas chucks from Bear Woods (woodparts.ca).

What a difference! Holds the blades securely and reduced vibration. Plus, they look cool!

Perhaps a bit more expensive than a replacement part, but a couple of quick google searches did not find anyone local who could supply Excalibur parts.

    Re: New Scroll Saw Chucks

I didn't really need to replace the holders on my EX-21 but I thought I would try they do seem better. I had replaced the upper blade holder about 3 years ago as I stripped the thread(my fault) and I got them from general in Montreal.

When I priced them I got a much better deal from Denny Knappen Dayton, TN at ArtCrafters https://www.artcraftersonline.com/

On sale cheaper shipping and no sales tax. After converting to Cdn $ about 15 cheaper plus Denny nice guy.

Just checked the website, and the price does look good.

However, when I put the set into my cart and asked for a shipping estimate, the website said "Sorry, we don't ship to Ontario".

If you send an email Denny will get back to you right away. When I ordered blades recently he said he is working on the Cdn shipping, The shipping on the blades was $5us.

I just looked up the bill for the holders and they where on sale for $64 at the time so that made up the difference. Shipping was $17.25.

You would have to check the US$ conversion and it may be close.

        Bearwoods charges the HST too.

I just notice the blade holders are available at https://www.gessweincanada.com/product-p/90.300.htm

Didn't look like they charge shipping.

Still getting the feel for the Pegas chucks.

You don't need to reef on them when tightening up on a blade. Once in a while I am a bit too far in the opposite direction and the blade comes loose from the lower chuck. What I find interesting is that the tension lever also kicks off when the blades come loose.
