  • Mini Birdhouses

I haven't been doing much lately but when I have a few minutes I have been cutting out these 3D birdhouses. These just 2 of 15 designs from a pattern from Dianna Thompson.

    Small things amuse small minds

I use a Flying Duchman Ultra reverse 5. The maple is quite hard but I have no problems and hardly have to sand except the occasional burn mark.

If you don't use FD blades Mike is a great guy to deal with and the order comes quite quickly.

I did get some blades from Mike just lately. I got some 5's but I don't remember if the are reversing. They are good blades.

            Hi Murray

You can tell if they are Ultra reverse as they have a crimp on the top to tell you which way is up. With UR with hardwood you can get the material jumping up on tight turns so you have to hold on real tight.

Also, I go to all the scroll sites quite regularly and get the email from Steve Good each day.

            His web site is http://www.scrollsawworkshop.blogspot.com/
