  • Help identifying this lathe please!!!!!!!!

    Hi!

New to woodturning and new to the forum. Really enjoying what little I have figured out so far and I have a feeling that this can be an addictive!!!!

I do have a question that I am hoping someone here can help me with...

Does anyone know what brand lathe this is?

I picked it up for $40 and it works ok, but it has a 3/4 inch unthreaded headstock spindle so I am finding it difficult to find compatible chucks, live centers. There is no morse taper or anything! Any info about this lathe would be greatly appreciated!

    thanks
    Jody

Gerry in Belle River had one a year or so ago. I am not sure that the brand was ever determined on that one.

Looks like an old Dunlap lathe. They were from the 40’s and sold by sears. Adapters to 1” 8tpi are available for it but can be somewhat expensive, about the same as you paid for the lathe.
      hope this helps!

        yes, sears/dunlap
looks like a nice little spindle lathe but adding a faceplate is going to be tricky and a chuck even more so without an adaptor
the adaptor would have to be retained by a set screw or two, not very satisfactory for accuracy
