I was going to use this warped piece of birdseye for the interior pieces but after 2 passes on the jointer and 4 in the planer I was able to get it perfectly flat. So I put it on the shelf for the top to another project!

That's very creative! I like it.

Thanks John, The nice thing about the TV Entertainment stands is that there are an awful lot available, for free!

Made a small clamp rack - spent way too much time trying to make this thing look ok... it works

I got bored in the shop so I went outside for walk through my trees. Ended up picking up a ton of branches that came down over the winter and dragged them to the burn pile. No major damage to the trees though.

Sold the last Rockwell Beaver lathe, acquired a Beaver 3400, cleaned it up, painted it and mounted it on an oak cabinet. Still need to mount the controller, reversing switch and hopefully a tachometer. When I got the lathe it was pretty dirty, but once the dirt and grime were removed it became clear that it has seen very little use.

                  Not exactly my shop.
Used a fellow guild member's shop and coring system to core out 3 blanks from each of 2 cherry chunks another guild member gave me.
This was a first time for me, and I learned a lot.
Thanks George for the time, and thanks Rick for the wood.
Will finally have a salad bowl.
Betrothed will get a set of 3 bowls.
One set 14x6 inches, the other 13x4 inches

Learning about and practicing dovetail joints. None of them are great but all of them are much better than the zero I had done before.

I put the last coat of poly on the fireplace cabinet.

Now it just needs sanding/waxing and the tiles need to be glued in place and grouted.......Oh, and I spent some moments of futility trying to shovel the sidewalk......Rod.

Progress on my Medieval Chair project. I finished turning the back spindles and have the back frame dry-fit now. Got the first set of mortices done on the front frame, and one rail fitted. My son pointed out that it was sort of ironic that I was using my General lathe as a tool holder whilst turning the spindles on my pole lathe.

I just finished this off and sold it immediately. I figured out how to mount a tachometer sensor that was fairly unintrusive. Here is the final product.

Here's a detail view of the control. There is a digital speed control, digital tachometer, forward/reverse switch and emergency stop switch.

The sensor for the tachometer is mounted on the outboard side of the headstock. The magnet is epoxied to the collar. The sensor is attached with an eye bolt that is threaded and bolted into the headstock. The wire runs down the outside of the cabinet and then into the cabinet and connects to its 9V power source and the digital display.
