    So at what point do you no longer call it a timber frame and instead call it a forest frame?

    First thing I thought was about fire safety with that building. I know what ya guys mean about a solid piece of wood without glue not burning easily. In my area the fire department wanted all the green 911 address signs to be blue if a house was built with the modern floor joists made out of 2x3s and chipboard. The reason being is it takes about 45 min for regular 2x8s to burn through and collapse a house while these new ones only take 5 min! Gee that wouldn't raise your insurance would it?

    look at it this way,a timber is like a large block of fire wood,try to start a large pice of fire wood on fire with a match,or even a torch.wont happen,you need kindling,accelerants,or both.sticks are kindling
    stick built houses are built of accelerants,and kindling.
    so what poses the greatest fire hazard,the timber built,or the stock built?

    There are quite a few 2 and 3 storey structures like or similar to this structure in downtown Edmonton Vancouver and Toronto.If I remember correctly there was an old building section that was part of the old Eaton's Annex which was post and beam. We all go in them and really never look up. Chainways store on St. Clair and Silverthorn was post and beam as was Dobson's Butchers in the same block.
