    Project Completed - Tensegrity Table

Completed a tensegrety table, per the attached photos.

This project was a challenge in several ways. The tensegrety concept seems simple enough, but being able to design and build something is the real proof of understanding.

The material used for this table is oak flooring, milled down to remove finish, tongue and groove, etc. The best material is what you have on hand! I was interested to see if this wood would be strong enough. The wood is 9/16" thick by 1 3/4" wide.

The design is roughly based on the one in this YouTube video:
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9TH9qlpcKoo

Mortise and tenon joints and half lap joints were used, along with a few 1/4" dowels for strength. Glue is Titebond III, since the table is intended for outdoor use. Finish is Australian Timber Oil.

The top of the table measures 14" x 17 3/4". It sits about 20" high.

When finished, I was surprised how solid the table was, and how little jiggle.

Apologies for the poor photography and busy background. And NO, the top is not crooked, that is the poor camera work!
