  • It's been a walnut day

Tried Odie's oil for the boxes.. never used it before. Curious how it holds up long term.

I think about 6 or 7 sharpening sessions during smoothing the boards.

Looks good. I have been wanting to try new box finishes and that's a lot of sharpening

Not as bad as you'd think... few minutes each time, if that. Rather that than bruise through any planing.

I'm not sure about odies - gonna apply another coat tomorrow and see how it adjusts the sheen - after 1 coat, not overly impressed - took a bit away from the sheen I found.
What you using on your boxes now?

I lately took a liking to walnut oil and then a coat of paste wax.
Super easy and feels like silk sanded to 320/400
Prolly need to go back to shelac though.
